Jarvis Hollingsworth


Jarvis V. Hollingsworth is the General Counsel and serves on the Executive Committee of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., a leading alternatives investment management firm with approximately $30 billion in assets. He was formerly a Partner in the Houston, Texas office of the law firm Bracewell LLP where he served on the firm’s management committee.

Mr. Hollingsworth currently serves as Chairman of the board of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), a state agency which manages a $150 billion-plus pension trust fund and administers an array of benefits, including healthcare programs, for retirees, active teachers and employees of education-related institutions. He previously served on the board of TRS from 2002 08, 2005-08 as Board Chair.

Mr. Hollingsworth previously served as a Regent on the Board of the University of Houston System from 2009-15 where he served as Chairman of the Board and Chair of the Endowment, Finance, Executive and Compensation committees during his tenure. Mr. Hollingsworth’s legal, business and financial expertise, and his commitment to community, have earned him numerous awards from many organizations. Among other recognitions, he was named a 2017 Distinguished Alumni of the University of Houston. Texas Monthly magazine has repeatedly named Mr. Hollingsworth one of its Texas Super Lawyers. He is a former member of the board of directors of the State Bar of Texas and the Lehman Brothers Private Equity Advisory Board.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Hollingsworth served for several years as a Captain on active and reserve duty in the United States Army. Among other military decorations, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his service. A native of Fayette, Alabama, Mr. Hollingsworth received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston. He serves on the Board of Directors of Frost Bank and its holding company, Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. (NYSE: CFR), based in San Antonio, Texas, and also on the Memorial Hermann Hospital System’s Finance Committee. Mr. Hollingsworth is a member of the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
