Matthew Keen

Managing Director, Responsible Gold Trading DMCC

Matthew Keen leads Responsible Gold Trading DMCC in Dubai, bringing more than 30-years of precious metals experience to the team. In 2014, he established Evidens, a precious metal specific consultancy in 2014 and, in that capacity, he currently serves on the advisory board for the World Gold Council (WGC), as well as the Independent Governance Committee for the Dubai Multi Commodity Centre (DMCC) and is a member of the Dubai Gold Advisory Group.

Matthew started his career at Johnson Matthey Bankers in 1982, in the aftermath of gold’s record breaking run up to $850 spurred by the infamous Bunker Hunt episode. In 1987 he moved to Engelhard (now BASF) where he started his specialization in platinum group metals (PGMS).

In 1991, Matthew left Engelhard to build a PGM business for JPMorgan where he remained for 10 years, including a period in Singapore where his specialization broadened to official sector coverage.

In 2005, he joined Deutsche Bank to rebuild their official sector business in precious metals before moving on to establishing them in PGMs, pioneering a new approach for metal financing. Whilst at Deutsche Bank he held the following Directorships: London Precious Metal Clearing Ltd., The London Gold Fixing Company Ltd., The London Silver Fixing Company Ltd. as well as being a member of Management Committee for the London Platinum & Palladium Market.

A respected veteran in the gold and commodity segments, he is a regular speaker at industry events such as those held by WGC, LBMA, LPPM, IPMI and DPMC events.
